Welcome to ELA-8!
Dear Students and Parent/Guardians,
My name is Ms. Martorelli, and I am looking forward to a very exciting and productive year in our English Language Arts class. This year in ELA we will be reading a wide variety of literature including novels, short stories, poems, and many non-fiction pieces. In addition, you will be challenged to improve your writing skills. As an avid reader myself, I know that literature can transport us to different parts of the world, different time periods, and it can help us see the world and ourselves from a different perspective.
With the high expectations that come with being in 8th grade, it is very very important that you are prepared each day. This blog is designed to keep us connected outside of school. I will be posting all of your weekly assignments, as well as, information on upcoming projects, tests, and/or quizzes. Check this blog often for any important dates or changes in your weekly outlines. Also, I will be posting all of the positive learning experiences we will be having in class. On the right-hand side of this page, you will also find helpful links for your ELA work or websites that may be of interest to you.
In order to familiarize yourselves with some of the basics of ELA 8 and to help you to be successful, I included some documents about the course in the "About ELA" section above. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me via e-mail.
I hope you all have a great year!
Thank You,
Ms. Martorelli
